Why choose TOX instead of Welding?

The TOX ® joining process can usually be used instead of rivets or spot welding when joining sheet metal parts together. Since the TOX process does not require high temperature to 'melt' the materials there are no toxic fumes created by the process. As a result, NO heat protection, fume extraction and venting, or material preparation prior to welding is necessary. No extraneous joining material (eg- welding rods) are required since the joint is created from the material being joined. The materials to be joined may be pre-painted, coated, or different thicknesses, and insulating or electrolysis-preventing films may be 'sandwiched' between layers of dissimilar metals when needed. The TOX process typically uses 80psi shop air instead of the high voltage generators of arc-welders or the high temperatures of welding torches but hydraulic, pneumohydraulic, or electric cylinders can provide the force requirements. Precise joining can be accomplished with TOX monitoring devices and interfaces. The TOX sheet-metal joining process has been used for applications such as computer chassis, automotive parts, washers and dryers, microwave antennas, lighting fixtures, HVAC equipment, and many, many more.
